As a doctor of physical therapy, Dr. Trish Corley has a unique advantage to provide you with a tailored wellness & yoga experience unlike any other. Get the most out of your time on your yoga mat and achieve your goals.
You don't have to worry or feel lost.
My physical therapy (aka physiotherpy) has trained me to determine the root cause of various physical problems and to develop individualized and evidence based treatments to solve the problems!
In a private yoga session with me, you get that same focused attention. Each session is designed to meet your individualized needs and goals. I take the time to identify and document your goals and develop a unique plan for you to meet them. Sessions may include manual therapy, massage, and other therapeutic techniques as well as prescribed exercises, yoga postures, and alignment techniques.
Physical therapists work with people to learn to sit up, take a first step, and return to hobbies and excel in sports. So whether you are new to yoga, facing an unexpected injury or illness, or ready to master your handstands, I'm here to help you.
Physical therapists are movement experts, and my specialty is yoga movements!
If you are looking for a teacher who can see your unique patterns of movements and identify what you need to maximize your progression, look no further!
I offer in person private yoga in Lisbon. We can meet at your home, your office, a park, or anywhere that works for you. We may also access a studio space in central Lisbon.
Depending on your goals and needs we aim to meet at the same time each week or moth.
Travel much or prefer to meet virtually? No worries, we can stick to your schedule via online sessions if you'd like!
While I do offer private sessions in person, we are so lucky to have the technology to meet virtually. If you have tried youtbue videos or other online yoga classes and felt lost, I get it. It's hard to look at the screen and follow along.
In an online private yoga session with me, I will give you the individualized instruction you need. As you would expect in a physical therapy or personal training session, I watch your practice with attention to your alignment and overall state of being. This allows me to adjust in real time and provide what you need. If you need a demonstration, I will certainly provide one! If you have questions, I will answer them! Each session is truly a unique and tailored experience!
After you are scheduled for your first session, you will complete a brief and confidential intake form so that I can better get to know you. This will include questions about your goals, health, and lifestyle. You can share as much or as little with me as you choose!
The first part of our first session will include a conversation to review your intake form. I want to know exactly what you want to get out of our sessions. I will also give you input on realistic expectations based on science and my experiences.
You can expect to practice and be on the path to your health and wellness goals on the first session. Since the science says human bodies heal and get stronger best with physical challenge, count on me to give you the push you need without overdoing it.
My goal is for you to feel in control of your yoga practice and your health. Together we will determine how often you will practice on your own vs with my direct instruction. It might also look like you accessing recordings of our sessions to use at later dates.
The number of session will be determined base on your goals and unique needs. Some people work with me to overcome an injury or illness and then "graduate" to practice on their own or go back to a yoga studio. Some people work with me to master a particular pose. Others desire the routine support for their practice and continue on a weekly or biweekly schedule for longer periods of time. In short, it could be anywhere from 1 to 1,000 sessions! Your input will be valued in our discussion to determine the answer to this question.
The first private yoga session that I taught years ago was to help someone master their arm balances! Over the years, I have taught private yoga to people:
- with back pain who have been told by their doctor to "do yoga".
- after surgery including spinal surgery, total hip replacement, rotator cuff repair, abdominal surgery, c-sections, and more.
- with neurological diagnoses including vertigo, multiple sclerosis, parkinsons disease, stroke, and spinal cord injury.
- undergoing cancer treatments (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and more) and cancer survivors.
- who are yoga teachers and want to hone their personal practice
- in high stress careers who want private yoga to help them stay healthy and work with a busy schedule
- aged 4 to 94
- and more!
Private yoga sessions occur via Zoom. You will need your own yoga mat. I will recommend any other props that I think will help you. Don't be surprised if I tell you to grab the pillows off the couch or some books off the shelf.
You can use your phone, tablet, or laptop. I request you set up your device in a way that allows me to see you!
Once you are scheduled for a session, you will receive more details on the set up.
